Colleges plow through mountains of qualified applications each year selecting only a few for entry. My goal for you is to create a narrative so compelling that the admissions officer won't be able to stop thinking about your personal story even as they read other essays.
This is a hands-on process. I'm not going to sell you access to videos to watch on your own with advice you may or may not need. There is no one-size-fits-all solution because each person's journey is unique. And finding the language to share that journey will require us working together.
The written portion of your application is a tremendous opportunity for you to show an Admissions Office who you really are. Unfortunately, many students make the mistake of treating it like a hurdle to overcome – focusing on word count limits and making sure their language sounds sophisticated and intellectual rather than authentic. But colleges are more interested in hearing your unique voice and learning what you would bring to their campus. That is why they draft essay questions the way they do.
Here's the hidden truth, though. Inside every essay prompt is a more fundamental question about your identity. Once you know the question, you're in the driver's seat. Writing your answer becomes more about articulating what you want them to know rather than what you think they want to hear.
With The Story Essay Method, we crack open the writing process and find your story – the one that sets your submission apart from the mountain of qualified applications your dream school is sifting through.

Our son is pursuing a degree in chemistry and writing was not a strength for him. After working with Khurram, we could not believe what he finally wrote. It actually made me cry and my husband kept repeating “This is good. This is very good!”

Khurram helped me get into UC Berkeley. Years later, I returned to him to help me write my personal essays for medical school (and even a best man speech at my brother's wedding!). I cannot say enough about how much his process helped me.

Khurram was very attentive to our many many questions. He was patient and took the time with our high school senior. She had waited until the last minute to start on her essays. But we quickly felt at ease as we saw his commitment. Our daughter is attending UT Austin and she got in to other competitive schools as well.
Rina H. - mother of current University of Texas at Austin student
I didn't know my story! I thought I did, but I didn't. Khurram guided me to help me find my own unique view of the world. I had wanted to play it safe, but the Story Essay helped me realize that the safest thing to do is to find your truth and share it. You have to work with The Story Essay!

I got into my dream school using Story Essay. Mr. Khurram was so great to work with. He really helped me dig deep to find what I really wanted to say. And then helped me say it. I got in to two ivy leagues, University of Chicago, and the school I chose to attend.

I was applying to a Masters program. I had a good handle on my personal statement (or so I thought). I gave Khurram my 750 word essay. He returned it with a circle around one sentence saying "That's your story." I was so confused, but I have to say I took his guidance and developed something I'm truly proud of. It was almost like therapy. And I got in to the program!
